Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does the system get activated?
    • We will contact you to schedule an appointment with one of our expert technicians after close of escrow and after receiving authorization from your local utility. The in-home appointment will include testing of all equipment, installing a mobile app with real-time system monitoring, and answering all of your questions.
  • How does billing work?
    • You’ll receive two monthly bills – one bill from SunStreet for the energy the solar system produced, and a second bill from your local utility for the energy your home consumed minus credits for any solar energy produced but not consumed.
  • Is there a system warranty?
    • With our 20/20 Solar Plan, SunStreet owns the system so there is no need to worry about repairs or maintenance. We continuously monitor remotely and maintain the system at no cost to you.
  • What is the purchase warranty?
    • When you purchase the system, it comes with a 20-year warranty on the panels and a 25-year warranty on the micro-inverters.
  • What happens when I sell my home?
    • The system and Solar 20/20 Plan easily transfer with the sale of the home. There are no credit requirements or transfer fees. Or, you can purchase the system at a predetermined price and include it in the sale of your home.
  • How is my monthly bill calculated?
    • Your monthly SunStreet bill is for all the solar energy your system produces regardless of whether you use it or send it back to the utility for credit. For each kWh of energy produced, you are charged the SunStreet Rate, which is 20% off the Reference Rate.* The result is you pay less for solar than you would have otherwise paid your local utility for the same amount of energy.
*The Reference Rate is based on the estimated electricity consumption of your home multiplied by a blended rate of your utility’s charges that take into account: (i) the filed tiered rate structure, subject to seasonal adjustments, (ii) all other charges imposed by your local utility, whether on a per kWh basis or as a fixed dollar amount, and (iii) applicable fees and taxes that may be charged by your utility.
